Good times

When I first went to Brisbane, I lived in a quiet suburb about an hour bus ride away from uni. I missed home, I missed my friends, I missed the hawker food.. I missed a lot of things.

It was also in Brisbane that I spent my birthday with new found friends (made within 2-3 months), away from my loved ones – my first.

I’ll always remember receiving a parcel from my poly pals on my 20th birthday, a parcel filled with love and laughter (think lingerie and granny panties). A reminder that my friends weren’t too far away and that I wasn’t forgotten. People underestimate what a parcel does, the joy (sometimes in the form of tears) and excitement it evokes – especially when you’re 4,000 miles away from home.

I missed out on a lot of fun when I was away but now that I’m back, and fast forward five years, my bunch of poly mates (we call ourselves POEPS, short for poly peeps) still bring me so much joy. Everytime we meet, I never fail to tear, in sheer ecstasy and last night was no different.

There are seven of us in the core group so it’s quite hard to gather the sheep, especially when one’s an air stewardess! We met at Sun with Moon and the usual, we ordered for 20 and moved on to Cedele for dessert.

LOTS of laughter. Somethings just can’t be explained in words so I’ll let some of the photos from last night do the talking.

How can you not love us

Ali, the only guy in our group has a signature way of posing. He tilts to his side, opens his eyes real big, with mouth slightly ajar.

Ali's signature pose - something like this

But really more like this LOL

So the girls decided to do an Ali.

Maddie (who really looked like Wally last night)! Slightly ajar. Not lao nuah!

We really seldom get a DECENT group shot

Wait a minute *giggle giggle giggle*

Good grief! It's real AND it's heavy!

POEPS in full force! L-R: Huiming, Angela, Yasi, Me, Kath, Maddie and Ali

Guys, if you haven’t realised, we’ve known each other for almost 10 years!! Time flies when you’re having so much fun. Wait till I tell you about the band Yasi, Maddie and I formed back in school. We were famous. I’m serious. Our band was called Action Bedek and we used to paste posters of ourselves around the Business school. We even printed photos of the three of us, autographed them and gave them to our lecturers. LOL!

I’m gonna die laughing and I might get killed for sharing this but seriously, THIS IS GOLD!

Action Bedek! From L-R: Mat Minah, Mat Po Po, Mat Rocker (2005)

We would rent jamming studios not to jam, but to pose as if we were jamming. LOL!

We were FIERCE

We were still rocking even after poly ended! Taken at Kath's 21st

I love these people ♥ I really do :)

Magic and Petals

I have been terrible at updating my blog. Come work and play and whoosh, everything just goes over my head.

Caught The Illusionists at MBS last Saturday and while some of the tricks were really impressive, I still miss my David Copperfield and tigers/lions roaming on stage. Also, although the show is suitable for all ages, I felt that some of the acts weren’t really suitable for little children. Remembering how I was as a kid, I would have be scared shitless by the ‘joker’ looking dude, haha!

Some of the scenes, costumes and music reminded me of Voyage de la Vie but what do I know. That aside, the theatre was really full and I’d recommend watching it. It’s been ages since we’ve had a decent magic show, much less five world class illusionists in Singapore.

Voila!
